Registered Nurse,

This Registered Nurse position in a short-term acute care facility focuses on providing skilled nursing care to patients in a PCU/Stepdown unit with a 1:3 patient-to-nurse ratio. The RN will manage patients with various diagnoses requiring intensive nursing interventions, including medication administration, central line care, and management of complex medical equipment. Experience with telemetry and a variety of medical procedures is required.

Responsibilities:

- Providing direct patient care to a caseload of 3 patients in a PCU/Stepdown unit.
- Administering medications, including IV insulin and blood products.
- Managing central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs.
- Utilizing and managing various medical equipment, including CADDS and PCA pumps.
- Monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
- Managing respiratory support, including BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilators.
- Performing wound care and managing wound vacs.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, including PCTs and phlebotomists.
- Documenting patient care in Epic.
- Floating to similar units within the facility as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting (first-timers accepted).
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Proficiency in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
- Skill in starting IVs, managing central lines, and performing blood product administration.
- Experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management.
- Knowledge of and adherence to isolation precautions.
- Experience with feeding tube care and management.
- Proficiency in IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Two or more years of experience in a PCU/Stepdown, ICU, or similar unit.
- Experience with patients presenting with DKA, acute respiratory needs, ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and CPORTS.

Special Considerations:

- No on-call requirements.
- Willingness to float between similar units within the facility.
- Telemetry monitoring required.
- Preference for candidates within a 75-mile radius.
- Pending licenses are not accepted.
- RTO restrictions: Aim for return-to-work within one week.

Scheduling:

- Every other weekend (EOW) requirement.
- Block scheduling will be considered but is not guaranteed.
