Junior Accountant (Hybrid NYC)

Location : Hybrid NYC (1-2 days a week in office)

Position Summary:

The Junior Accountant will support the Finance department with routine and non-routine duties focused on managing the general ledger, reconciling major accounts, posting journal entries, reporting on financials and analyzing accounts. This position requires you to have an overall interest in accounting and finance but will have demonstrated accounts receivable/accounts payable experience. Responsibilities :

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
• Responsible for preparing and maintaining the General Ledger; conducting journal entries, G/L account reconciliations and related work papers.
• Assist in reconciling company bank accounts, preparing cash flow worksheets and analyzing accounts as needed.
• Maintain accounting internal control as well as cost-effective control over the purchasing of supplies.
• Assist with fiscal year-end audit procedures as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining, processing and reconciling accounts payable/receivable activities.
• Assist in preparing and conducting bank deposits on a weekly basis.
• Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Collect and review data for federal, state, and local reports and tax returns to ensure timely filing.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Manager.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or Associates degree plus 2 years' accounting experience in non-profit industry required
• Must have knowledge of, and comply with, GAAP for non-profit organizations and general accounting procedures and policies.
• Experience using SAGE Intacct accounting software preferred.
• Must have knowledge of non-profit tax-exempt accounting procedures
• Advanced proficiency in using Excel for data tracking and reporting.
