NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY

Job Title – Network Specialist

The work involves responsibility for the installation and maintenance of Local Area Network (LAN) components, end-user network services and basic network administration activities in one or more county departments. The incumbent installs, modifies and maintains a variety of network hardware, (including firewalls, switches, access points) software and peripheral components; diagnoses and resolves network problems. The work is performed under the supervision of a higher level administrator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out details of the work. Does related work as required.

Work Hours : Full-time, 40 hours per week, with benefits

Salary : $30.4484 – 38.5398/HR (CSEA)

Location : Cortland County Information Technology

Status: Competitive, Provisional

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Either:

(a) Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher in computer science or computer information systems, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience installing, modifying and maintaining a local area network; OR

(b) Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a); OR

(c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b), or other experience that can demonstrate the ability to perform all duties

Degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, applicant must provide independent verification of equivalency.
