Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense
Our client, a distinguished full-service law firm with over 150 years of legal excellence, is seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Construction Labor Litigation Practice Group. Known for its strong focus on construction litigation and insurance defense, the firm represents a diverse client base, including insurers, contractors, and construction professionals.
This is a growth opportunity with a clear path to partnership for motivated attorneys. The firm is open to both experienced construction litigators and strong litigators interested in transitioning into this highly specialized and in-demand field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in insurance defense matters, particularly involving construction accidents, labor disputes, and contract issues.
- Handle litigation from case inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motions, mediation, and trial.
- Advise clients on construction-related risk management, labor law compliance, and indemnity issues.
- Draft and review litigation documents including motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
- Collaborate with insurance carriers, risk managers, expert witnesses, and co-counsel to develop strategic defenses.
- Manage a litigation caseload efficiently and in accordance with court deadlines and client expectations.
- Keep abreast of legal developments in construction law, OSHA, and insurance defense.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active New York Bar license; New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience; prior work in insurance defense or construction law preferred.
- Solid understanding of construction-related legal issues, including Labor Law § 240/241, OSHA, and indemnification clauses.
- Strong research, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $105,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience.
