As a Senior Software Engineer, with your technical expertise you will build and own innovative applications with a desire to achieve exceptional design fidelity, usability, accessibility, and performance. You will be responsible for sound technical execution of projects through hands-on development, quality-assurance, and prototyping. These projects will require close collaboration with our product managers, user interface designers, brand producers, data scientists, and engineering teams. You’ll be managing multiple exciting projects at once, so being able to juggle these initiatives is key! We’re also counting on you to be a champion for best engineering practices, guiding engineers, designers, and management along the way.

You should be ready to take ownership of a project or feature, guiding it from design all the way through to implementation.

The Growth Platforms team owns both the Incentives & Messaging systems for Lyft. These systems determine & send the right messaging and/or incentives to the right user at the right time. We work with lyft-wide engineering teams including rider & driver teams, growth & product marketing, legal & compliance, and support teams to adapt our services and the platform offerings to be able to enable growth across Lyft. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of Lyft's internal services and operations and adapt them to meet the growth needs. You will have the opportunity to build and improve the quality and efficiency of the various growth tools that are critical for Lyft.

Responsibilities:

  • Help establish roadmaps and architecture based on technology and business needs
  • Unblock, support, effectively communicate, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve results
  • Lead projects of multiple people from idea to positive execution
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
  • Utilize your expertise in Python, Golang, AWS, AI to deliver robust and scalable solutions
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
  • Proactively participate in resolving ongoing incidents and oncall rotations
  • Share your knowledge through tech talks, mentorship, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practices

Experience:

  • BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering industry experience
  • Extensive experience in object oriented programming, ideally in Python or GoLang
  • Experience in backend software development of large-scale distributed systems, concurrency and NoSQL databases
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Successfully led the design and launch of multiple components from concept to production.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional partners

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $148,000 - $185,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
