QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or related field or equivalent practice working with adults seeking career counseling; MSW preferred At least 6 months of counseling individuals or groups
Candidates should have knowledge of data bases, excellent organizational expertise, knowledge of community resources, and availability to help others;
Report writing, exceptional communication expertise (internal and external), and excellent listening expertise Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.



tasks: This is a grant-funded part-time position funded by revenue received from Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) of Dutchess County. While the end date is December 31, 2022, it has potential to continue if the grant is renewed. The position is approximately 5 hours and 42 minutes per day (or 28.5 hours per week). Hours may vary.


The purpose of this job offer is to ensure that participants receiving benefits from DCFS have access to employment counseling and coordination services while attending Dutchess BOCES Adult Education programs. The person in this job offer will also complete all quarterly reports and any necessary paperwork as required by DCFS and the grant's requirements.


Job responsibilities:
1. Instruction in Employment expertise
* At least Five (5) one-hour work expertise training courses for students on the following topics: cover letters, resumes, applying to jobs (in person or online).


2. Career Counseling/Planning
* Provide effective counseling for individuals/groups relative to knowledge and overcoming problems/barriers regarding their course selection, educational, career, and/or personal goals, which includes writing/updating a Department of DCFC approved Audlt Education Career Plan with each student.
* Counsel students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, career planning, post-secondary education and career pathways.
* Counsel individuals to help determine next steps to overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting students' educational goals.
*Identify cases involving domestic abuse or family problems affecting students and refer them to the appropriate entity/agency.
*Encourage students to seek additional assistance from mental health professionals when necessary.
*Provide crisis intervention if/when necessary.


3. Case Management - Conduct follow-up appointments/phone calls with students to assist them with attendance in class, time management, and possible barriers to employment.
* Maintain accurate and complete student records and case notes.
* Provide community resources/referrals from partner agencies and attend various community meetings to showcase Adult Education Programs.
* preform data entry and data base searches into ASIST and XenDirect Student Data Management databases.


4. Community Outreach and Networking
* Meet with students at the Dutchess One Stop Career Center, the DCFS offices, and other agency locations as needed to assist the student's progress.
* Network at community events and committees as a representative of Dutchess BOCES as assigned.


5. Employment Services and Follow-up
* Posting jobs for students to apply to and network with area employers through job fairs, Chamber of Commerce events, and other opportunities all over the year.
* Collaborate with Dutchess BOCES ALI employees to organize at least one job fair to support participants in finding out about job opportunities.
*Reach out to students between 3 and 9 months from program exit to record goal attainment, including furthering education and employment in a career field.
