Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Program Director
The Division of Allergy and Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is seeking a mid-career A&I Board Certified academic physician to join the clinical faculty as the A&I Fellowship Program Director. The successful candidate will have completed residency in either General Pediatrics or Internal Medicine and a will have strong background in A&I education. Preferred candidates will have an MD or MD/PhD degree with a successful track record in training A&I fellows for a minimum of 3 years.
The Northwell A&I Fellowship is a nationally recognized, ACGME accredited, A&I fellowship program. Our program has a strong record of graduating outstanding subspecialists pursuing research, academic, and community practice locally and at major academic institutions across the United States. Our program trains four A&I fellows each year, 2 in each year of training. We take fellows from both pediatric and internal medicine backgrounds who have chosen A&I for their future career. Ninety-six A&I fellows have graduated from our program since 1985. There is an existing consortium of these A&I graduates who meet at the major A&I yearly conferences and also attend as voluntary consultants with the academic A&I attendings in the 2nd year A&I fellows' clinics. In these clinics, A&I fellows are supported by both full-time and former graduate volunteer physicians in preparation to become "A&I physicians of record" upon graduation.
The Division of Allergy and Immunology serves a very large population of children and adults with a wide variety of atopic diseases and/or genetically defined primary immunodeficiency.
