Job Description
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm , where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist to join our Remediation team in our Bloomfield and Piscataway, New Jersey offices. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients.
This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026. This is a field-based role comprising approximately 80% field work and 20% office-based work. The candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across the states of New York and New Jersey. The candidate will communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as a part of a project team. Note this role may require travel outside of New York and New Jersey (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:- Performing routine fieldwork, working under close supervision from project managers. Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and drilling and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.
- Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.
- Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
- Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
- Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS in Geology or related field + 0 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Professional competence in GIS.
- Experience using Esri products preferably ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123, and Field Maps.
- CAD experience and ability to work with CAD to understand BIM/GIS interfaces.
- Database knowledge (ArcGIS for Server, EQuIS, MS Access, and/or SQL Server).
- Experience in the use of ModelBuilder, ArcPy, and geoprocessing tools as well as developing scripts in Visual Basic, Python, and/or JavaScript to automate tasks.
- Experience and/or coursework related to environmental remediation.
- Proficiency in GIS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) software.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Experience with field and/or construction documentation.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
