Overview
As a Data Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building a leading and innovative market data platform that underpins our business. You will contribute to the build out and upkeep of Capstone’s data platform. You will have the chance to boost your career in a fast-paced and ambitious team that strives to create state-of-the-art tools for a range of data-related activities including onboarding, analysis, sourcing, quality checking, and lifecycle management.
The ideal candidate will have essential expertise in creating and maintaining market data platform pipelines and tools. You will have relevant experience working with financial data and exposure to various data stores such as Snowflake, Redshift and timeseries databases. As a liaison between technical teams and business users, excellent communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate for this role is self-starting, flexible, intellectually curious and adept at creative problem solving.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- Contribute to the design, build and support of a world class data platform that covers real time market data, unstructured data and alternative data.
- Develop data solutions that enable investment professionals to efficiently extract insights from data.
- Build tools and automation capabilities for data pipelines that improve the efficiency, quality and resilience of our data platform.
- Working directly with Product and Portfolio Managers to understand their data needs and provide end-to-end data solutions that address requirements.
- Work with timeseries databases (e.g. ArcticDB, KDB+) to store, query, and manage dense time-series data effectively.
- Build out data quality and integrity tools to ensure robust data validation and error handling.
- Investigate data issues, working with data providers to ensure seamless interconnection between different data sets.
Our future colleague has these skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4 –6 years in a software development focused role
- Proficient in Python and SQL
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with, and inspire, a wide cross section of data professionals.
Do you possess these Bonus Skills: .
- Knowledge of fixed income products (options, swaps, futures, etc.)
- Familiarity with AWS ecosystem
- Understanding of streaming pipelines
- Awareness of key financial vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet)
- Knowledge of OLAP platforms and workloads using tools like Snowflake or Trino
- Experience with timeseries databases (e.g. ArcticDB, KDB+)
- Experience working with trading teams, data teams and infrastructure teams

The applicable base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $165,000 USD. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
