Technical Sales Manager
A global nutrition business is building something new in the US.
They are investing in their premix and customised ingredient solutions offering, with a growing focus on technical, value-added partnerships rather than purely transactional ingredient sales.
As part of that growth, they are looking forcommercially minded technical specialists to help develop the market across the US.
You'll work closely with R&D, formulation, quality, procurement and commercial teams to understand customer requirements, identify opportunities and help move projects from initial discussions through qualification and into long-term commercial partnerships.
The role will involve developing existing relationships as well as opening new accounts, with plenty of scope to shape your own territory and build something meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities across dietary supplements, functional nutrition, beverage and related health and wellness markets.
- Grow existing customer relationships while identifying new accounts across the assigned territory.
- Work directly with customer R&D, formulation, procurement and quality teams to understand technical requirements and identify suitable premix or custom ingredient solutions.
- Manage opportunities from initial technical discussion through sampling, qualification, trials, commercial negotiation and final supply agreement.
- Support customers with ingredient specifications, formulation requirements, quality documentation and manufacturing considerations.
- Develop relationships with supplement manufacturers, contract manufacturers, co-packers and consumer health brands.
- Work closely with internal technical, quality, sourcing and commercial teams to ensure projects progress effectively.
- Negotiate pricing and longer-term commercial agreements.
- Maintain an active pipeline and provide accurate forecasting across the territory.
- Travel regularly to customer sites, industry events and manufacturing locations.
Experience Required
- Approximately 5+ years of experience within nutritional ingredients, premixes, custom blending, contract manufacturing or a closely related market.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of commercial sales, account management or business development experience.
- Strong technical understanding of ingredients and the ability to communicate confidently with R&D, formulation and quality teams.
- Experience managing consultative sales cycles involving technical evaluation, qualification and multiple customer stakeholders.
- Exposure to the dietary supplement, functional food, beverage, sports nutrition or wider nutrition industries.
- Ability to independently develop and manage a sales territory.
- Existing relationships with supplement manufacturers, contract manufacturers or nutrition brands would be highly advantageous.
- A technical degree in food science, nutrition, chemistry or a related discipline would be beneficial but is not essential where equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
