Entry-Level Arc Welder

Entry Level - Arc Welder CBS
Pay Rate : $18.25 - $24.00/hour
Responsibilities:
•The ability to execute secondary structure welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing.
•Must be capable of learning to operate all welding machines including GMAW , GTAW and Resistance Spot Welders.
•Must have working knowledge of material properties, methods and basic set-up, verification, adjustment, operation of the welding equipment and hand tools (grinding and cutting).
•Must be able to read blueprints or work instructions, set-up of jigs and fixtures, comprehend the associated welding symbols and welding sequence.
•Must have working knowledge and ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools
•Must have ability to work in a safe manner compliant with all Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
•Ability to learn to weld different types of materials (e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel) and pass applicable welder evaluation Entry Level tests.
•Effectively communicate with Supervision, Level A welders, Engineering Department and the Quality Department discussing design changes or material changes
•Must be adaptable - accepting different work assignments - maintain a clean working environment
•The ability to Listen, Learn and comprehend from experienced welders to achieve all company and customer requirements.
•Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.
•The ability to utilize digital technology in day to day work responsibilities
•Ability to obtain or has external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent
•Ability to inspect arc or spot welded weldments per the appropriate acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements to ensure conformance with specification.
•Acceptable hand/eye coordination and ability to pass visual acuity test
•Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma, 2 year vocational degree or equivalent welding certificate with experience
Experience:
Less than 2 years
Automatic/hand operated burning equipment
Welding processes & machines GMAW / GTAW
Blueprints
Weld symbols
Hand/power tools
