Joo Ok is a contemporary Korean fine dining restaurant, which received 1 star in 2024 and 2 stars in 2025 from the Michelin Guide NYC. Led by Chef Shin Chang Ho, Joo Ok is recognized for its commitment to hansik and its modern interpretation of Korean cuisine. Joo Ok relocated from Seoul, Korea to NYC’s Koreatown in 2024.

[Position Summary]

We are looking for a warm, professional, and attentive Host to be the first point of contact for guests visiting Joo Ok and our bar.

The Host will be stationed on the 1st floor (Freight Entrance)and will welcome guests, provide basic information about Joo Ok, our bar, and the building, and escort guests to the 16th floor.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently, communicating confidently with guests, and assisting with the operation of the building’s manually operated freight elevator to bring guests safely and efficiently to the restaurant and bar.

The Host plays an important role in creating the first and last impression of our guests’ experience.

[Responsibilities]

• Welcome and greet all guests arriving at the 1st floor with a warm and professional demeanor
• Welcome guests visiting both Joo Ok and our bar
• Confirm guest names and reservations when appropriate
• Escort guests from the 1st floor to the 16th floor
• Operate the building’s manually operated freight elevator as required
• Assist guests with entering and exiting the elevator safely and comfortably
• Provide guests with basic information about Joo Ok, our bar, and the building
• Clearly communicate directions and any relevant information to guests
• Maintain a polished, organized, and welcoming presence at the 1st-floor entrance
• Communicate closely with the restaurant and bar teams regarding arriving and departing guests
• Assist with guest flow during busy service periods
• Maintain a professional appearance and wear neat, appropriate business attire or a suit
• Remain calm, attentive, and professional in a fast-paced environment
• Perform other guest-related tasks as needed to support smooth operations

[Qualifications]

• At least 1 year of experience in hospitality, restaurants, hotels, luxury service, or a similar guest-facing role
• Previous host, concierge, front desk, or fine dining experience is a plus
• Warm, polished, and professional communication skills
• Comfortable speaking with guests and providing clear directions and information
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
• Team-oriented and positive attitude
• Able to work independently while communicating effectively with the restaurant and bar teams
• Comfortable operating a manually operated freight elevator
• Able to stand and remain active for extended periods of time
• Must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week
• Must be available approximately 5:00 PM–10:30 PM , with the possibility of extended hours depending on business needs
• Must maintain a neat, polished, and professional appearance suitable for a Michelin-starred fine dining environment

[Compensation]

$17 per hour + tips

The hourly rate may be increased quickly based on your experience, performance, and capabilities.
