Gratifying Community Orthopedics - Total Joint Surgeon

Bassett Healthcare Network , a progressive, academic health system in central New York, a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to join our staff.

The division is looking for a surgeon with fellowship training in total joint arthroplasty to support the focused service line for hip and knee replacement surgery. Bassett is committed to building a superior center for total joint replacement in the upstate New York region. The position does require participation in general call coverage.

Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated healthcare system that provides care and service to people living in an eight-county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school - based health centers, and health partners in related fields. Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown is a 180-Bed Primary Hospital, Level III Trauma Center.

This is a vibrant and sophisticated upstate community set in a bucolic lakefront village affording four seasons of cultural and outdoor activity. This village also has an unparalleled and well-appointed community sports center.

Job Description & Responsibilities

• Salary Range: $650,000-$750,000 * Sign-on Bonus up to $200,000
• Incentive plan with no earnings cap. Individual performance and productivity can significantly enhance compensation with potential upside realized within the first year of employment.
• An established group of 11 Orthopedic Surgeons and 14 Advanced Practice Clinicians
• General Orthopedic Call Required 1:9 days - Dedicated Hospitalist for weekday coverage, shared call with whole Physician group – APC 1 st call system in place
• Joint Replacement Center located at AO Fox Hospital, a 40-bed acute care hospital
• Referral Base of over 150 Primary Care Clinicians
• Full Support Staff including APC’s with Surgical Residents and Medical Student Interaction
• Comprehensive benefit package, including but not limited to medical, dental, CME, transition stipend and paid malpractice insurance

Job Qualifications

• MD, DO or MBBS
• Completion of an accredited residency in orthopedic surgery, successful completion of which results in board eligibility
• NYS Licensure
• BLS Certification Required
• Fellowship Trained
• DEA Required
