Position Summary:
Thrive Center is seeking experienced and dedicated Licensed Special Educaiton Teacher or Students with disabilities Teacher to join our team. We have full-time and part-time positions available throughout NYC, especially in The Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn. In this role, you will provide dedicated instruction and support to students, many of which have learning disabilities. This role involves developing individualized education goals (IEPs), implementing specialized teaching strategies, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children with diverse needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs. Certification and licensure in special education are required to ensure compliance with educational standards and to deliver high-quality instruction tailored to each student's unique requirements.
Duties
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans aligned with student's IEP goals.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those requiring speech therapy, behavioral therapy, music therapy, or applied behavior analysis.
- Conduct assessments and monitor student progress through ongoing evaluations.
- Manage behavior effectively through classroom management techniques and behavioral health strategies.
- Provide early intervention services for preschool-aged children and participate in early childhood education programs.
- Utilize learning technology and instructional design tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP implementation, and communication with parents or guardians.
- Support students' social-emotional development through mentoring, recreational therapy, and child welfare initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and contribute to curriculum updates or instructional design efforts.
- Document daily encounters.
- Complete one annual progress report per student.
- Other tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Certification in students with disabilities or Special Education
- DOE fingerprinting clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with school-age children and adolescents
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to student development and educational equity
