Senior Data Scientist - Commercial

The Commercial Data Science & Machine Learning team at Squarespace is looking for a Senior Data Scientist. Our team develops and integrates data science models into company practices and the product to unlock value for Squarespace and its customers.

You will support investment decisions through statistical and machine learning modeling, test design, and causal inference techniques. In addition to this main focus, you will also work on projects that help protect our customers and the business by developing detecting fraud, mitigating abuse, and minimizing financial losses from high-risk transactions.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Senior Manager of Data Science & Machine Learning.

You'll Get To…

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Strategists, and Engineers to identify opportunities and create data science solutions


• Prototype different approaches to identify the best data solutions for business problems


• Design, deploy, and maintain statistical and machine-learning models in business- and customer-facing applications; for example, marketing mix modeling, customer lifetime value modeling, and financial risk modeling.


• Validate and improve model performance through iterative testing, tuning, and feature engineering


• Propose, design, and implement marketing lift tests using both traditional A/B test designs and model-based approaches like causal impact


• Research advancements in data science and machine learning to evaluate new techniques and technologies for potential application

Who We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience working in a Data Science or similar role; experience working directly with business partners in a Data Science role is a plus


• Experience building and deploying models in a production environment, particularly for marketing mix modeling, customer lifetime value modeling, and financial risk modeling


• Competency with Python and SQL


• Experience communicating data science solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 - $207,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
