Job Title: RN – Wound Care

Duration: Contract - 14 Weeks

Role Summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Wound Care. The role involves providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and education related to wound, ostomy, and continence care. The ideal candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care and support clinical best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
• Perform physical assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Recommend appropriate medications and treatment interventions.
• Assess and document patient responses to wound care treatments, including complex wounds and fistulas.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and initiate referrals as needed.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention, care, and management.
• Develop and deliver staff education programs, including orientation and ongoing training.
• Perform routine assessments for patients at risk of pressure injuries and implement preventive measures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including audits and prevalence studies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure confidentiality in compliance with patient rights policies.
• Assist in selecting supplies, equipment, and technologies related to wound care.
• Support asset management for specialized equipment (e.g., specialty beds, negative pressure devices).
• Identify and connect patients with relevant community resources.
• Communicate and escalate clinical or ethical concerns as appropriate.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience.
• Experience in wound and colostomy care.

Education

• Required: Associate’s Degree (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Preferred: Not specified

Certifications & Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of New York.
• License verification through NYS Department of Education (NYSED).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current certification in at least one of the following:
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) – WOCNCB
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – WOCNCB
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) – WOCNCB
  • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) – ABWM
  • Wound Care Certified (WCC) – NAWCO

Language Requirement

• English (Read, Write, Speak)

Additional Information

• Minimum Degree Required: Associate’s Degree (Community College or equivalent).
