Primary Counselor
New Life Manor is a dedicated community residence offering safe and supportive housing for men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. As a Primary Counselor, you will be an integral part of our treatment team, offering counseling and guidance to help clients achieve their recovery goals. This role reports directly to the Program Director and offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve. Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary counselor for up to 12 clients, providing individual and group counseling to support their recovery journey.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client assessments, focusing on strengths and areas for personal development.
- Conduct advocacy on behalf of clients and maintain positive relationships with other service providers.
- Participate in case conferences, utilization reviews, and incident reviews to ensure comprehensive client care.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with OASAS and HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate life skills management, including readiness, socialization, independent living, and relapse prevention.
- Market program services to local community groups and maintain relationships with referral agencies.
- Assist in transporting residents to appointments and meetings as needed.
- Contribute to the development of vocational programs and workshops to enhance job readiness and retention skills.
- Stay current with OMH and OASAS regulations and maintain all applicable licenses and credentials.
Qualifications
- CASAC or CASAC-T certification required.
- Experience in substance abuse counseling and familiarity with NA and AA policies.
- Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Outlook and Word.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral approaches.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to drive clients in a company van.
- Bachelor's degree in human services or 3 years of experience in the substance abuse treatment field preferred.
