Staff Attorney – Non-Profit/Government 9 month Contract (Temporary, Remote)

Pay Rate: $48–$54/hour

A community-based non-profit organization is seeking a Staff Attorney to support its Contracts and Management Services team. This role will focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts tied to federal, state, and local funding, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise internal departments on legal matters related to contracts and grant-funded programs
• Draft, review, redline, and negotiate subrecipient agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents
• Ensure all contractual agreements align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
• Conduct legal and regulatory research and prepare memoranda
• Monitor and interpret regulatory changes at the city, state, and federal levels
• Provide guidance on ad hoc legal matters as needed
• Support compliance with government funding requirements, including federal grant regulations

Qualifications:

• Active member of the New York Bar (or eligible for immediate admission)
• 3–6 years of relevant experience (law firm, in-house, or government)
• Strong experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation
• Knowledge of federal grants and government contracting regulations (including Uniform Guidance / 2 CFR 200 and NYS requirements)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the non-profit and/or healthcare sector
• Background in government or federally funded programs
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Schedule & Details:

• Remote role with occasional in-office presence (approximately 1 day per month or as needed)
• Temporary assignment
