The Teacher Assistant (Direct Support Professional 2) works with the individuals in the Supplemental Day Habilitation program. This is an after school program. You pick your day(s) to work between Monday to Friday. Can work up to 16 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The responsibility of a DSP 2 is to provide direct care support in an encouraging, positive and compassionate manner to individual’s ages 7-21 diagnosed with various disabilities.
1. Provide Supplemental Day Habilitation Services to individuals in a 1:1 or 3:1 group setting.
2. Assist Individuals in toileting needs as needed.
3. Ensure the proper documentation of each individual’s goals and services in compliance to OPWDD.
4. Provide feedback and concerns to the Individual’s parent/guardian at pick up.
5. Complete and maintain all required certifications and trainings per regulatory Agency policies and procedures.
Working conditions and physical demand required:
The position requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Must be able to pass a background test.
Must have experience working with individuals with special needs.
Perfect for college students majoring in Special Education, Psychology, Nursing or Physical Therapy.
