Financial Controller

Mattos Hospitality is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our Corporate Office team in New York.

The Financial Controller will oversee revenue reconciliation, accounts payable, general ledger activity, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls while partnering closely with the Chief Financial Officer and restaurant leadership to support the financial health of the business.

They are proactive, solutions-oriented, comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and able to translate financial information into clear, useful insights for leadership.

This position is based in the Mattos Hospitality Corporate Office in New York.

• Oversee daily revenue reconciliation across restaurant locations, ensuring sales, deposits, comps, house accounts, and other transactions are accurately recorded.
• Prepare and distribute daily and weekly financial and KPI reporting, including analysis of revenue, COGS, payroll, and labor.
• Oversee accounts payable processes, including vendor payments, invoice review, account reconciliations, and payment controls.
• Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, inventory adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and financial analysis for the CFO and executive leadership.
• Partner with restaurant leadership to review financial performance, identify variances, and provide visibility into operating results.
• Oversee tip and commission reconciliations and ensure accuracy between POS, payroll, and internal financial records.
• Support inventory tracking, cost of goods analysis, and revenue reconciliation across restaurant locations.
• Prepare and coordinate sales tax and other applicable tax filings.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes and provide ongoing variance analysis.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures across the organization.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial workflows.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Experience with multi-unit restaurant or hospitality accounting is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day financial processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting, POS, payroll, and restaurant financial systems preferred.
