About the position:
The Content Programmer, Events and Live Media, is a conference development expert who helps to conceptualize, create and execute event, conferences and live media with insightful, engaging and influential programming that aligns with the brand associated with the event and the audience it serves.
The successful candidate will work closely with the SVP of Strategy and Content, Live Media, the Editorial teams and the sales organization to develop in-person conference and live media agendas, secure top speakers and develop content in line with defined deadlines and revenue objectives. They will also develop a pipeline of strong in-studio and virtual events, seminars and other live events with content and commercial appeal.
Additionally, the Content Programmer, Events and Live Media, will serve as the key organizer for their conferences, events and live media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry-leading speakers, potential new entrants, partners and sponsors
- Identify key themes and trends across the industry that translate into thoughtful, engaging and compelling conference agendas and live media formats
- Seek out high-profile expert keynote speakers from within the industry as well as on the periphery
- Explore innovative Event, Conferences and Live Media formats and structures that drive value for target participants
- Focus on diversifying speaker lineups to be representative of a larger swath of the market, via age, gender, political viewpoints and geographic representation
- Conduct focus groups for each event in the portfolio with key constituencies
- Supports the development of new revenue streams and event platforms
- Support the facilitation of research and validate new event ideas to increase the conference, event and live media portfolio and its financial performance
- Lead the flawless execution of events along with event production team
- Work across the Event, Conferences and Live Media group to collaborate and share best practices with peers, where appropriate
Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years of conference, event and/or live media content development and programming experience—this is not an event planning, operations, logistics or marketing role—with a focus on developing and leading high-profile B2B, content-rich events, conferences, and live media.
• A four-year college degree is desired, preferably in Journalism or Business.
• Candidate must possess strong writing ability and expertise in event development. Experience in banking and financial services, wealth management, mortgage, employee benefits and/or fintech industries required.
• Experience with events and registration platforms is plus but not required.
• Proficient in persuasive, clear, and concise writing and communication.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
