Recruitment Manager

Harlem Children's Zone
New York, NY

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in Harlem, New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Recruitment Manager to join our Promise Academy Recruitment Team.

The Recruitment Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

We are seeking a Recruitment Manager to oversee and support the talent selection activities and processes for all Promise Academy Charter School teaching and select non-instructional staff. In this role, the Recruitment Manager will work closely with HR, internal selection committees, Principals, and the Superintendent to implement, refine and execute a rigorous, well-coordinated recruitment and screening process that ensures HCZ Promise Academy consistently selects the highest caliber teachers and support staff.

The successful candidate will have a successful track record in high volume, full life cycle recruitment environments, and experience developing and improving talent selection processes and systems (i.e., sourcing, screening, selection, and on-boarding) across several stakeholders.

  • Familiar with issues in education prevalent in underserved urban communities of color
  • Experience working as a teacher or administrator in a K-12 school setting and/or experience in K-12 talent recruitment in the New York area is a huge plus

What you'll do

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for teachers, ensuring all selected candidates are properly assessed and evaluated throughout each phase of the recruitment process
  • Manage and lead a team of Recruiters, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure individual and team hiring goals are consistently met
  • Develop and maintain a system of disseminating resumes, coordinating interviews, and gathering/sharing candidate assessments and interview feedback with internal selection committees and other stakeholders
  • Identify talent sources and sourcing strategies (e.g., colleges, graduate schools, recruitment events, online job boards, social media, and professional networks) and execute targeted outreach to attract qualified candidates
  • Track open positions, and define and monitor relevant recruitment metrics that inform the design of strategies to meet and exceed recruitment goals
  • Work closely with HR colleagues to manage job offers, including salary negotiations and reference checks, and ensure all new hires are appropriately on-boarded and are fully informed of, and introduced to, HCZ PA's organizational culture, policies and benefits
  • Conduct regular industry research and remain knowledgeable about the education field’s talent landscape to refine recruitment processes and implement best practices
  • Build high-quality productive relationships with internal stakeholders and develop meaningful external partnerships that strengthen HCZ’s candidate pipeline and advance the longer-term recruitment strategy
  • Perform other duties as assigned
