KITCHEN LEADER - BACK OF HOUSE (FOUNDING TEAM)

About the Role
The Kitchen Leader oversees daily kitchen operations to ensure food quality, food safety, and efficient workflow across the kitchen team.
This role leads and develops kitchen team members, ensures strict adherence to standardized recipes and operational procedures, and supports team performance through coaching, training oversight, and performance feedback. The Kitchen Leader acts as a key bridge between kitchen staff and restaurant management to maintain product excellence and operational consistency.
This role requires a balance of high-level craftsmanship and the ability to maintain speed, focus, and quality in a high-volume New York dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Quality Management
Supervise daily kitchen operations to ensure full compliance with standardized recipes, food safety protocols, and operational procedures.Monitor product quality, consistency, and presentation during preparation and service.Conduct internal quality checks and ensure corrective action when deviations occur.Coordinate with restaurant leadership to maintain operational readiness during peak service.Maintain high-speed service efficiency while ensuring the "WOW" quality in every dish, even during peak New York dining hours.
Team Leadership & Supervision
Lead, coach, and motivate kitchen team members to achieve daily operational goals.Provide on-the-job training support and performance feedback.Maintain discipline, accountability, and teamwork within the kitchen environment.Promote a respectful and collaborative kitchen culture aligned with Pizza 4P’s values.
Training & People Development
Support internal training and skill development across kitchen team members.Monitor team progress and identify opportunities for skill improvement.Work with Trainers and management to ensure team members follow the kitchen career pathway and certification requirements.Encourage a growth mindset and continuous learning within the team.
Workforce & Shift Management
Assist in planning shift assignments and daily task distribution.Ensure sufficient staffing coverage during service periods.Monitor attendance, punctuality, and adherence to shift schedules.Support efficient kitchen workflow and coordination between stations.
Inventory & Cost Awareness
Supervise ingredient handling, storage, and stock rotation according to food safety standards.Monitor product usage and reduce food waste where possible.Maintain awareness of portion control and operational cost discipline.Enforce sustainability protocols, including strict waste separation and composting, in alignment with 4P’s global mission.
Team Collaboration
Coordinate closely with Service, Pizza, and Bar teams to ensure smooth restaurant operations.Communicate clearly with leadership regarding operational challenges or team needs.Support a positive and respectful team environment across all restaurant departments.
Compliance & Safety
Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.Maintain strict compliance with company SOPs and operational standards.Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.Report operational issues or safety concerns to management promptly.
Ensure 100% compliance with NYC Department of Health (DOHMH) regulations and food safety standards at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. Culinary training or hospitality education is a plus.
Current NYC Food Protection Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire) is highly preferred.
ExperienceMinimum 3–4 years of kitchen or food service experience, including experience supervising or leading a team.
Experience supervising or leading a team in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment (NYC experience preferred).
Experience working with and leading multicultural teams with various language and cultural backgrounds.

Leadership and coaching mindset with problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions during intense service.

Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and move for extended periods during service.Ability to lift and carry kitchen items up to 40 pounds.Ability to work safely in a fast-paced and high-temperature kitchen environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Wage Range: USD 21 – 23 per hour + TIP (Before opening, 25USD under training period, not apply TIP)
Start working : 15th MAY
This range represents the good-faith compensation estimate at the time of posting in accordance with New York City salary transparency requirements. Final compensation will depend on experience and qualifications.
Overtime is paid in accordance with federal and New York State law.
