Payroll Specialist
- Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll for a large employee population.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, paid time off, benefits deductions, garnishments, and taxes.
- Maintain employee payroll records and update payroll information as needed.
- Respond to payroll-related questions from employees in both English and Spanish.
- Review and audit timesheets, attendance records, and payroll reports for accuracy.
- Coordinate with Human Resources regarding new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit deductions.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Support payroll reconciliations and assist with payroll-related general ledger entries.
- Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as required.
- Handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) required.
- 1+ year of payroll processing experience.
- Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Paycom, or similar platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups required.
- Experience supporting union and/or grant-funded employees.
