Position: Head Server/Assistant Manager

Location: Matsunori Handroll Bar — Long Island City, NY (2709 Thomson Ave)

Hours: Monday–Sunday, 4:30 PM – 10:30 PM (3-5 days a week minimum flexible) Occasional outside of these hours for specific tasks.

Pay: NYC server minimum wage + tips + monthly bonus

About Matsunori: Matsunori Handroll Bar is a walk-in sushi handroll bar from the Notoro Group, celebrated for its premium quality fish, A5 Wagyu, and caviar — all at an approachable price point. Originally born in Boston, Matsunori brought its philosophy of more fish, less rice to Long Island City, quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite for hand-crafted, Japanese-inspired handrolls made with impeccably fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients.

About the Role: We are looking for a motivated and organized Assistant Manager to help lead daily operations at Matsunori LIC. This is a hands-on role that blends floor management with active serving responsibilities — ideal for someone who leads by example and thrives in a high-energy hospitality environment.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure drinks, beverages, desserts, and teas are fully stocked each day before service
• Build and distribute weekly staff schedules every Friday
• Calculate and process weekly tip reports
• Pick up payroll checks from the office every Friday
• Communicate with the office regarding any kitchen payroll concerns or discrepancies
• Assist with purchasing supplies as needed
• Print and distribute menus as required
• Serve as a bridge between floor staff and upper management, escalating issues as appropriate
• Ensure all team members are properly trained on food and beverage items and performing to standard
• Address and resolve guest concerns promptly, and communicate recurring issues to management
• Perform serving duties alongside the floor team

Requirements:

• Prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality management role preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• A valid driver's license is a plus
