General Manager
The General Manager will be responsible for running service 5 nights a week (managing reservations, printing menus, running pre-shift meeting, keeping the team motivated, handling guest issues, helping keep track of inventory, and helping with general flow of service as needed including greeting and seating guests, helping run food, bus tables, serve wine).
We prioritize emotional intelligence, a positive attitude, a calm demeanor and proficiency in the small, mundane tasks of running a busy restaurant. The ideal candidate has Manhattan FOH experience both as a manager, sommelier and a server. We have a deep, 600 reference wine list, and the ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about wine and comfortable with a list of this size. This is an active managerial job performing service 5 nights a week, with additional administrative responsibilities. It is not an office job. This is the first time we've hired for this position since we opened - our previous GM had been with us for several years, as have many members of our kitchen, prep team and hourly floor staff. This is a company where ownership is present every day and is very hands on, and culture is paramount. We are looking for someone who can continue fostering our positive work environment and developing the team to be a little bit better every day. We're a rather busy restaurant, and have been named Food & Wine's Best New Chef, Eater's Restaurant of the Year, as well as being nominated for a James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York State. We're looking to improve our refinement and push on to make Lord's one of the top places to eat in NYC. We're also in the expansion phase as a young company, and t here will be lots of room for growth, both within New York City and outside.Lord's is open 7 days a week, with dinner Monday to Saturday and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
