Senior Accountant Location: Queens, NY Schedule: 5 days onsite, with flexibility for occasional hybrid work when life circumstances require it Reports To: Controller Career Path: Opportunity to grow into an Accounting Manager role About the Opportunity Our client is experiencing continued growth and is adding a Senior Accountant to the team due to a recent promotion and expansion of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Senior Accountant who wants to take on increasing responsibility and ultimately grow into an Accounting Manager position. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play an important role in the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and analysis. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on, takes ownership of their work, and is interested in developing their leadership and technical accounting skills over time. What You’ll Do Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reporting. Support revenue recognition and related accounting activities. Analyze account activity and investigate variances or unusual transactions. Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure proper accounting treatment. Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts. Partner with internal teams to resolve accounting questions and ensure accurate financial information. Assist with improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures. Support the Controller with special projects and financial analysis as needed. Take on increasing responsibility and ownership with the goal of progressing into an Accounting Manager role. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 4 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team. Strong communication and organizational skills. A desire to grow professionally and take on additional responsibility. Construction or SaaS accounting experience is a plus, particularly experience with revenue recognition, but is not required. Why Join?
