Duties Description Are you interested in starting or advancing your career with New York State? Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 positions provide excellent opportunities for advancement and growth. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.Secure Care Treatment Aides care for patients with severe and persistent mental illness within an OMH secure intensive treatment unit or forensic facility. Additional duties include:- Observe and monitor patients- Apply therapeutic techniques to stabilize patients- Record notes on patient behaviors- Apply physical restrains to patients as ordered by physician- Maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 (SCTA 1) if they have a high school diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or similar equivalency such as a General Education Development (GED) Certification or higher degree.ORCandidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.In addition:1. You must be able to communicate and follow oral and written instructions and directions in English in order to perform the duties of the position.2. If you are selected for appointment, you may be required to attend a physical exam. Your physical and medical condition will be evaluated to ensure that you are able to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
