Qualifications
Educational and other Requirements for the position:
The candidate should hold a PhD degree in a quantitative field.
Experience Required:
The candidate should have strong analytical and programming skills, prior experience in analyzing genomic data (broadly defined), and demonstrated productivity through first-author peer-reviewed publications (including preprints)
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:
The research will lead to novel computational tools and new insights of the biological mechanisms in human diseases, such as cancer.
Responsibilities
Details of Research Project:
A highly motivated postdoctoral fellow is recruited to conduct computational biology research within the cutting-edge field of spatial proteogenomic integrative analysis at the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). ISMMS is an international leader in medical and scientific training, biomedical research, and patient care. At ISMMS, world-class data scientists and clinicians work closely together toward precision medicine. The postdoc will join a leading proteogenomic research lab directed by Dr. Pei Wang.
Previous work from this lab has produced widely recognized tools for integrative proteogenomic analysis and contributed to systems-level understanding of the gene/protein regulatory mechanisms in cancer. The postdoctoral fellow will play a critical role in developing computational tools for analyzing, harmonizing, integrating (spatial) multi-omic datasets across multiple resolutions, and further apply those tools to study the role of tissue microenvironment and cell-cell communications in human diseases such as cancer. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with experts at ISMMS in both basic and clinical research.
Technical Duties: (include any protocols)
The anticipated duties include advanced training in computational biology within the cutting-edge field of spatial proteogenomic integrative analysis. The candidate will work on building sophisticated computational models that characterize functional molecular activities and their interaction networks in the spatial context, and to translate these insights into predictive models for treatment response and other disease outcomes. The candidate will also tackle other relevant biomedical challenges using high-dimensional omics data.
