Line Cook

Position: Full-Time / Hourly
Hourly Range: $20.00 - $25.00

Gjelina New York is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our culinary team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, works with focus and consistency, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative kitchen environment.

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing menu items according to Gjelina's recipes, standards, and expectations for quality and presentation while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient station throughout service.

• Prepare and execute menu items accurately and consistently according to recipes and standards.
• Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station before, during, and after service.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, labeling, storage, and temperature-control procedures.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, freshness, portioning, and presentation.
• Communicate effectively with chefs, expos, and fellow BOH team members throughout service.
• Work efficiently and with a sense of urgency during high-volume service.
• Assist with prep, receiving, organization, and other kitchen responsibilities as needed.
• Minimize waste and properly care for ingredients, equipment, and kitchen tools.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Support a respectful, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture.

• Previous line cook or professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Strong knife skills and basic knowledge of professional cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes, direction, and established kitchen procedures.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a professional kitchen.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
