Job Title: Claims Assistant
Location: Long Island City, NY (On-site, 5 days per week)
Division: Risk Management & Compliance
Salary: $65,000-75,000 base

About the Role
Major Electrical Contractor is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Claims Assistant to support their Risk Management & Compliance Division. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Risk Management & Compliance and work closely with the broader claims team.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and eager to learn about the insurance and legal aspects of claims management. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of all company-related claims, including general liability, auto, and workers' compensation
• Prepare responses to legal requests, subpoenas, and document production
• Create, maintain, and organize claims and compliance files (digital and physical)
• Support compliance efforts using prequalification platforms such as ISNetworld and PASSPort
• Perform data entry, reporting, and analysis to support claims tracking and compliance reporting
• Update and maintain internal databases and documentation
• Provide administrative support to the Risk Management & Compliance team as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience preferred (but not required)
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of insurance claims (general liability, workers’ compensation, auto) is a plus
• Familiarity with legal and insurance terminology is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask questions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work
