POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and primarily serves an audience of more than 1.5 million residents of Suffolk County. The region benefits from an exceptionally high quality of life, with access to world-class arts, sports, New York City, and the natural resources of Long Island.
SUNY Suffolk is a comprehensive community college committed to open access, equity, and student success, and candidates for adjunct faculty positions should be prepared to demonstrate their commitment to these values. Adjunct Faculty are scheduled to teach based on the needs of students and their department, and may have the option to teach in more than one modality.
Responsibilities:

Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college.

Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels, including assessment of student learning outcomes.

Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses.

Ensuring that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice.

Ensuring that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices.

Incorporating engaging and appropriate academic technology into all modes of instructional delivery.

Teaching assigned courses in accordance with description published in the College catalog and the approved course outline.

Completing mandatory compliance training as assigned during the semester.

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in discipline or related field.

Experience teaching in a college setting or in industry professional/technical experience related to the discipline.

Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity and student success.

Familiarity with a learning management system and/or willingness to use the College's LMS (i.e. Brightspace).
Preferred Qualifications:

Community college teaching experience.
-
Experience teaching face-to-face, online, hybrid, and/or blended learning.
