Registered Nurse,

This Registered Nurse position requires a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting and proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, including complex care for patients with diverse medical conditions. The role involves direct patient care, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team within a tertiary care hospital environment. A current New York Registered Nurse license is mandatory.

Responsibilities:

- Providing direct patient care to a patient ratio of 1:6, with potential for 1:5 to 1:7 ratios during med-surg float assignments.
- Administering medications and treatments, including blood products, heparin protocols, and management of various lines (central, peripheral, PICC).
- Monitoring patients using telemetry and responding to rapid response/code situations.
- Performing procedures such as phlebotomy, wound care, and managing various respiratory support devices (HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen masks).
- Managing patients with ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and surgical drains.
- Utilizing electronic health records (Epic).
- Collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Performing patient assessments and developing treatment plans.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of patient care.
- Managing tracheostomy care and implementing isolation precautions.
- Charge nurse responsibilities (required).
- Med-Surg Float Pool assignments.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Current New York Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum two years of hospital experience in medical-surgical nursing.
- Proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, including complex care.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code teams, and various medical devices and procedures (as listed in Responsibilities).
- Experience with a 1:6 patient ratio, with ability to handle 1:5 to 1:7 ratios.
- Proficiency in Epic electronic health record system.
- Charge nurse experience.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Special Considerations:

- Must be proficient in managing complex medical cases, including those involving ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and various medical devices.
- Every other weekend (EOW) work schedule required.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment within a tertiary care hospital.
- Must have a valid driver's license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle (inferred from fallback template).
