CORTLAND COUNTY PERSONNEL/CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT 60 Central Avenue Cortland, NY 13045 607-753-5076 NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY Job Title:Social Services Attorney (DSS) The work involves responsibility for providing legal services to the Department of Social Services.The incumbent is responsible for representing the Department of Social Services at Family Court, Supreme Court, Surrogate Court, and City Court in the following areas, Child Welfare, Temporary Assistance, Medical Assistance, Adult Protective, and Persons in Need of Supervision, Juvenile Delinquency, Support Enforcement and other related social services programs.Supervision may be exercised over the work of attorneys and subordinate staff. The work is performed under the supervision of the Commissioner of Social Services and in accordance to established laws and rules.Does related work as required. Work Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week with benefits Salary: $100,000-$115,000/yr. (Management Compensation Plan) Location: Cortland County Department of Social Services Status: Competitive, Provisional Benefits : New York State Retirement System, Low Deductible Health Insurance Plan, Generous Paid Time Off including 13 Paid Holidays, Tuition Assistance available, Position is eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a license to practice law in New York State. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: The incumbent must obtain a license to practice law in New York State within one (1) year of the date of permanent appointment.
