Duties Description Washington Heights Psychiatric Unit (WHU), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists to provide outpatient psychiatric treatment to individuals with serious mental illness.The selected candidate will be part of the care team on the Washington Heights Community Service unit, a 21-bed acute care inpatient unit providing accessible, culturally sensitive, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based treatment of the highest quality to individuals in Northern Manhattan. Duties will include but are not limited to leading and working collaboratively with interdisciplinary treatment teams; providing psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and group therapy; providing on-call supervision to psychiatric residents; and serving on a rotating basis as the overnight and weekend attending back-up via phone.- Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions- Creating treatment plans including medication management- Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed- Providing individual and group psychotherapy- Supervising Psychiatric Residents and Fellows

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
