Restoration and Floor Care Equipment Diagnostic Technician
Role overview
Pay range: $19.00–$21.00 hourly + bonus
Support customers in the commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep industries by diagnosing and repairing a wide range of specialized equipment. Achieve department quality and productivity goals while collaborating with technicians, supervisors, and store staff.
Primary responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and system issues across assigned equipment.
- Apply testing instruments, troubleshooting guides, and manufacturer service manuals correctly.
- Evaluate equipment for additional service needs and communicate recommendations.
- Create service orders for all incoming repair items and maintain accurate job records.
- Use scheduling software to book, track, and maintain service and repair appointments.
- Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and via email.
- Prepare bids and present estimates for repairs and services.
- Order required parts and coordinate with vendors to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate shop workload with other technicians and service work with store employees.
- Follow supervisor direction; assist other technicians and store staff as needed.
- Use and maintain shop tools/equipment properly; keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.

- Basic automotive systems; 2-, 3-, & 4-cylinder gas engines
- Truck-mounted carpet cleaning units
- Portable carpet extractors
- Hard-surface floor cleaning machines
- Duct cleaning equipment
- Deodorizing equipment
- Dehumidifiers
- Air scrubbers and air movers
- HEPA vacuums
Qualifications
- Experience (preferred): 2+ years in one or more of the following areas: commercial cleaning/restoration equipment; small engine repair/maintenance; pressure washer repair/maintenance; or vehicle repair/maintenance.
- Driver requirements: Valid driver license and a clean MVR (no DUIs or Careless/Reckless driving in the past 3 years).
- Education/tools: High school diploma or equivalent; personal basic mechanic’s tool set.
- Core skills: Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and efficient, accurate diagnostic/problem-solving capability.
- Safety: Consistent use of PPE including safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Professionalism: Quality-focused, on-time work; professional appearance and demeanor.
- Communication & computer: Solid written and verbal communication with basic computer skills.
- Physical/schedule: Lift 50+ lbs regularly; occasional overtime as needed.
- Plus: Bilingual English/Spanish.

- Delivers clear, timely customer updates and accurate estimates.
