Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer

Location: New York City Metro Area

A leading geotechnical engineering consultancy is looking for a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join its New York area team.

This opportunity is particularly suited to an engineer with approximately 3-7 years of experience who has developed a strong field background and now wants to continue building their design and project management experience.

The role offers exposure to a wide range of technically challenging projects throughout the NYC area, working alongside experienced geotechnical engineers on complex construction and development projects.

What You’ll Work On

• Deep foundation systems and foundation recommendations
• Support of excavation and retaining structures
• Geotechnical investigations and subsurface exploration
• Geotechnical analysis, calculations and reporting
• Construction observation and field engineering
• Waterfront and marine-related projects
• High-rise and commercial developments
• Airports, stadiums, healthcare facilities and data centers

The position is intentionally not purely office-based. Field work remains an important part of the role, particularly for engineers who want to maintain a strong understanding of construction while developing their design capabilities.

Over time, there is a clear opportunity to take on more responsibility with design, client interaction and project management.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-7 years of geotechnical engineering experience
• Strong field experience and understanding of geotechnical construction
• Interest in developing further into geotechnical design
• Experience with foundations, SOE, retaining walls, subsurface investigations or similar
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
• PE license preferred, but not required
• Strong technical and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments

Compensation & Benefits

• Approximately $90,000-$130,000+, depending on experience and qualifications.
• PE candidates may be considered at a higher level.
