The Fire Systems Specialists is responsible for overseeing and supervising all activities associated with fire system maintenance in compliance with regulatory requirements and commercial agreement. Works independently and with contractors within approved procedures and methods to perform preventive maintenance and repair on fire system and associated equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning – Develop and implement weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual inspection schedules for all fire systems. Monitor and assist contractors that do inspections maintenance and repair on sprinklers, standpipe & hose systems, fire service mains, pump systems foam fire suppression, carbon dioxide & halon extinguishers, dry & wet chemical fire system and any other equipment associated with the fire system. Ensure all schedules are met and work is performed in accordance with maintenance procedures and regulatory compliance.

Collaborate – Create effective relationships with peers, subordinates and clients by displaying conduct that inspires trust, respect and reflects a shared purpose in achieving organization’s goals. Keep the department manager fully informed and updated about the Fire System Maintenance activities. Handles emergencies and failures in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick actions.

Customer Relationship – Develop relationships with the client that promote customer excellence and shareholder value by reaching agreements that achieve customer expectations, Company goals and interests. Create and implement plans that reflect an understanding of the commercial agreement deliverables and Bombardier’s business interest.

Administration –.Ensures the integrity of Fire System records and record keeping systems. Ensures that all Company related Fire System documents and data are complete and accurate and comply with all reporting requirements. Ensure all maintenance is recorded completely and accurately in MAXIMO.

Safety – Adheres to all safety policies and organizations safety rules and ensure safety is safeguarded and not compromised for profit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years experience in maintenance and repair of fire systems and building trades, completion of Building Trades program preferred.
  • Effectively communicates written and oral information in English.
  • Advanced level skills in Windows-based applications and Microsoft Office applications.

COMPETENCIES

  • MAXIMO – Maintenance record keeping systems, Service Quality Factors (SQF).
  • Leadership – Management or Technical: Interprets maintenance manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints. Prepares drawings or schematics to communicate with others in performance of work. Collaborate across departmental lines and boundaries to resolve issues and to guide change in a positive manner.
  • Problem Solving: Competent in solving complex technical problems and executing effective solutions. Ability to manage tight deadlines and use work time efficiently. Be confident and self-motivated. Reports fully to the Facilities Manager about events that require his/her attention for review or approval.
  • Area & Nature of Impact: Revenue, Safety, Customer Relations.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Open, honest, courteous and shows respect for people and work processes. Accepts ownership of department’s issues, situations and communication and follows up and through on commitments to employees and client.
  • Analytical skills including the ability to develop new processes and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and required to have a valid license in accordance with New York State Motor Vehicle Laws.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet
  • Able to walk and stand from 4-6 hours a day.
  • Able to sit in an office environment 2 hours a day.
  • Must have color vision.
  • Ability to grip and manage hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Bending and stooping up to 2 hours a day
  • Able to work in confined spaces

Salary: $68,500 - $75,000/annually
