Foster Care Home Finder

Location : Buffalo, NY

Setting: Outpatient - Full-Time

Schedule

• Varies based on client needs

• Weekends/evenings if needed

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

The Foster Care Home Finder is responsible for recruiting, training, certifying, and supporting foster and adoptive families. This role guides prospective foster parents through the certification and re-certification process and supports successful placement of children in approved homes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Recruit and engage prospective foster and adoptive families through community outreach and recruitment activities.

• Screen applicants and ensure compliance with agency, county, and state regulations.

• Conduct home visits, interviews, and foster/adoptive home studies.

• Complete required documentation, assessments, clearances, and regulatory paperwork.

• Maintain accurate case records, certification information, training records, and re-certification requirements.

• Assist with matching children with appropriate foster families and coordinate placement communication.

• Provide ongoing support, advocacy, and resources to foster parents.

• Develop relationships with foster families, caseworkers, community partners, and service providers.

• Facilitate and co-train prospective foster families in required training programs.

• Participate in meetings, case reviews, family conferences, and required professional development activities.

• Ensure adherence to child welfare policies, regulations, and best practices.

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field required.

• LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC license preferred.

• Professional licensure preferred.

• 1-2 years of experience working with children and families required; extensive child welfare experience preferred.

• Knowledge of foster care regulations, child welfare systems, and community resources preferred.

• Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and build positive relationships with diverse populations.

• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, advocacy, and cultural sensitivity.
