Estate Manager, Farm Maintenance, Handy Man, Farm Manager, Grounds Keeper

POSITION SUMMARY: Property Manager/Handyman responsible for all aspects of the day to day property care and maintenance for a privately owned horse farm in Upstate New York. This is a facilities focused role involving property maintenance, equipment operation, vendor coordination, and physical labor. Our ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, hands-on, and able to address a wide variety of property-related needs as they arise. This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions. On site management with a typical scheduled 5 days a week. Must have the ability to be on call for emergencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinating and facilitating yearly maintenance schedules for Irrigation System, Pool system, Pond, Pastures and Farm Equipment.
• Needs to be familiar with and able to oversee electrical work, plumbing and irrigation system.
• Scheduling/working with sub contractors.
• Maintain and repair pasture and arena fencing, gates and posts.
• Dragging of riding arenas.
• Hay handling and storage.
• Manage a cleaning schedule for entire facility.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs on farm structures, including stables and storage areas.
• Assist in seasonal tasks of snow plowing/removal and mud control in paddocks.
• Experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment such as tractors, skid steer, excavator, mowers.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Grounds maintenance, lawn care, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, landscaping.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively with others. Self-motivated with attention to detail and possessing a high standard in work ethic. Ability to work in all weather conditions this job is a predominantly outdoors. Efficient worker that can preform physically demanding tasks. Exercises caution around farm animals..they are our top priority!! Must be comfortable around farm animals. (Horses, Cows, Dogs) Assist with and participate in any special assignments or projects as deemed necessary by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 3+ years' experience in similar role. Experience with land scaping, general construction, operating farm equipment including tractors, skid steer, snow plow, lawn mower, etc.

Salary dependent on experience.
