NYC / Martha's Vineyard Weekend Nanny
An active NYC-based family is seeking a nurturing, energetic, and highly organized Weekend Nanny to support their four children. The ideal candidate is engaging, active, and naturally connects with children of varying ages. They are proactive, resourceful, and possess strong childcare instincts paired with a genuine team mentality.
The family values teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude, and is seeking someone eager to become an integral part of their household. The successful candidate will work collaboratively alongside an established household staff and contribute to the smooth operation of a busy family environment.
The position primarily consists of weekend coverage, with approximately 10–12 hour days on both Saturdays and Sundays. Typical start times are around 7:30am, and evening coverage frequently extends until 8pm–10pm depending on the family's schedule. Overnight coverage is required approximately one to two weekends per month with private accommodations provided for all overnight shifts. Candidates should be comfortable reserving their weekends for the role, as flexibility is important.
This role also presents an opportunity for supplemental weekday Family Assistant hours for candidates interested in creating a more full-time schedule. The family maintains residences in New York City, Bedford, NY, and Martha's Vineyard during the summer months. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between residences as needed and possess a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Foster a warm, safe, engaging, and structured environment for the children
• Provide attentive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for children
• Confidently manage multiple children with calmness, consistency, and sound judgment
• Follow daily routines with strong attention to detail and organization
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, outdoor play, sports, and enrichment opportunities
• Transport children to and from activities, practices, games, appointments, and other commitments
• Provide overnight supervision of the children during weekends when parents are traveling
• Support children's organization, including bedrooms, belongings, sports equipment, school materials, and personal items
• Maintain open, respectful, and direct communication with principals
• Assist with calendar management, appointment scheduling, and children's activities as needed
• Support household organization projects and general family logistics
• Assist with travel preparation, packing, and unpacking
• Coordinate vendors, deliveries, and household inventory as needed
• Monitor and restock household supplies
• Assist with occasional pet care as needed
• Work collaboratively with the family's existing staff and contribute to the smooth operation of the household
• Additional childcare and family assistant responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
• Excellent references from both current and former employers
• Fluent English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Minimum 5+ years of professional nanny experience required
• Family Assistant experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with school-aged children and adolescents required
• Energetic, active, and highly engaged childcare approach
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also operating independently
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
• Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive mindset
• Confident swimmer willing and able to swim with children if needed
• Comfortable around pets
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record REQUIRED
• Comfortable driving children both in and outside of New York City
• Willingness to travel between family residences as needed
• High level of discretion, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality
• Legally authorized to work within the United States
Compensation: $40–$50 hourly depending on experience, schedule requirements, and overnight responsibilities
Additional compensation available for overnight coverage and supplemental weekday Family Assistant hours
