Salary Range: $52,000 - $55,000

Background:
Position Summary:
The main goal of the Welcoming Navigator is to be the key point of contact for newly arrived immigrants, providing immediate, comprehensive, and culturally specific support while connecting them with essential legal and social services. Among other tasks, the Welcoming Navigator identifies and fosters grassroots outreach; provides information and education to the community, provides case management services to better integrate the community; works closely with the legal team to provide law-related support to clients; recruits members into the organization; develops and facilitates Know Your Rights presentations in Spanish and English, oversees volunteers; and performs a variety of other tasks to build grassroots level empowerment to the immigrant community. The Welcoming Navigator reports directly to the Program Officer.
Program Goals and Objectives
- Support for Holistic Integration: Facilitate the successful integration and transition of newly arrived immigrants in Suffolk County, addressing their immediate needs (housing, health, employment, and education).
- Legal Literacy and Access: Increase legal literacy within the community through proactive outreach and education (Know Your Rights Workshops - KYR/CDS) and ensure a seamless connection to SEPA Mujer's internal legal services (TPS, VAWA, Asylum, etc.).
- Trauma-Informed Service Provision: Ensure that all services, case management, and referrals are delivered with a culturally specific, bilingual, and trauma-informed approach .
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
The Navigator is responsible for executing programmatic activities and meeting the quantifiable objectives established in the grant proposal.
A. Project Management and Leadership
- Project Oversight: Drive the implementation of the entire grant work plan, ensuring all quarterly deadlines and objectives are met on time.
- Team Coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for all project partners, volunteers, and internal staff involved in the Welcoming Navigator initiative.
B. Direct Services and Case Management
- Client Intake and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed needs assessments and intake for new immigrant clients.
- Holistic Case Management: Directly assist clients with essential applications, including school enrollment, job applications, health insurance enrollment, and connection to public benefits.
- Legal Access (Referral Management): Serve as the main liaison between new clients and SEPA Mujer's legal team, facilitating internal referrals for formal legal representation (e.g., VAWA, TPS, Asylum), ensuring a smooth transition without duplication of effort.
C. Community Outreach and Education
- CDS (KYR) Workshops: Schedule, coordinate, and/or present Know Your Rights (KYR) Workshops to community members and service providers in the region.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the Legal Director and Paralegals.
Reporting Requirements
The Navigator is responsible for maintaining data accuracy and ensuring compliance with grant reporting requirements.
- Grant Data Collection: Meticulously record all client contacts, services provided, and workshop attendance figures to comply with all data collection requirements.
- Weekly Update: Internal report numbers must be updated weekly .
- Data Responsibility: The Navigator is responsible for providing these figures to the supervisor for the programmatic report, which is submitted bi-weekly .
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience;
- Experience working with immigrant communities and a deep understanding of their unique challenges;
- Experience working on the grassroots level with a member-driven organization;
- Comfortable in public speaking;
- Self-motivated and dedicated, with a proven ability to work independently under pressure and overcome obstacles;
- Eager to learn alongside a dynamic and effective team (team-work oriented);
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and staff with various roles, responsibilities, and personalities;
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Valid Drivers’ License and reliable car;
- Willing/able to travel throughout Long Island with experience working on Long Island;
- Must be comfortable driving passengers and/or driving community members in a personal vehicle from time to time;
- Maintain a positive attitude;
- Available to work evenings and weekends when needed;
- Computer skills, including Google Workspace, databases, excel, and Canva.
- Bilingual English-Spanish required;
