Mental health therapist

Catalyst Therapy is looking to expand from an individual private practice to a group practice due to overwhelming patient demand.

We are currently looking to hire 1-2 provisionally licensed therapists as part of our initial expansion. We are credentialed with most major insurances.

The owner, Mike Amory, LCSW, is passionate about both mental health care as well as the business of therapy. Ideal candidates would aspire to open up their own private practice once they obtain their full licensure. You will be trained in both clinical and business theory to set you up for success. You will get to take all your patients with you once you start your own practice.

Ideal candidates would consider themselves “Active” therapists in sessions. The “house style” of Catalyst Therapy is one that views effective mental health treatment as sometimes being akin to getting into a street fight. If your approach is to push your patients, hold them accountable, and be right there in the trenches with them as you encourage and support progress toward their goals in treatment, this is the practice that will develop those skills to their fullest potential.

Timeline for hiring is to onboard 1-2 therapists by January/February 2026, with the possibility of speeding that up to December 2025.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Provisionally licensed in NYS (LMSW, MHC-LP, etc) with at least 6 months of treatment experience
• Able to work fully remote from their home or private location
• Good internet speed and webcam (This will be checked during an interview by running a speed test via Google).
• Lives in New York City
• Has an independent streak

Responsibilities Include

• Billing at least 20 clinical hours per week
• Completing treatment notes within one week of the session
• Participate in individual supervision of at least one hour per week
• Once practice expands, participate in occasional group supervision

Job Type: Full-time (Minimum 20 clinical hours a week)

Work Location: Remote (Owner is located in Brooklyn and plans to have in-person meetings from time to time, so living in NYC is required)

Salary: 60% reimbursement to Therapist, raise after one year is completed at practice.

Benefits: At this stage of the practice, no health insurance or paid/sick time off is being offered. Employees will be treated as W2s, and the long-term goal of the practice is to expand further so that health insurance and other benefits can be offered.
