Investigative Research Associate

Overview

A leading global investment firm is seeking an Investigative Research Associate to join its New York team.

Key Responsibilities

The Investigative Research Associate will conduct research and investigative diligence for the firm’s private and public investment analysts and portfolio managers, and will also help to support a team of four Investigative Analysts. The Investigative Research Associate will play a key role in generating actionable and insightful conclusions, and will be responsible for providing support across all phases of the diligence process, including:

• Conducting proprietary research on both management teams and unique business issues via live source interviews and open-records work
• Performing background checks on company management
• Identifying and engaging unique sources to assist in the diligence process
• Reviewing and analyzing outstanding litigation for target companies or individuals
• Assessing and summarizing publicly available reviews of companies, products and individuals
• Analyzing news databases to identify any relevant controversies or red flags related to target companies or individuals
• Clearly communicating diligence findings to Investment team members
• Assisting with other ad-hoc team projects

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• 5+ years of investigative research and diligence experience required; fundamental investment experience and/or legal work a plus but not required
• Bachelor’s degree with a record of academic success (required)
• A working knowledge of investigative databases
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to distill large amounts of information into succinct research conclusions
• Interest in companies and the investment management industry
