Payroll Assistant (Timekeeping & Payroll Support)

Location: New York, NY 10004

Duration: 8 Weeks

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Hours: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day)

Pay Rate: $28 – $32/hour

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to support payroll processing and timekeeping functions. This role is critical in ensuring accurate employee time records, payroll compliance, and timely payroll processing in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing & Support

• Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees

• Assist with wage garnishments and payroll adjustments

• Ensure accuracy of benefits deductions

• Prepare payroll transfer reports and support audits

Timekeeping Administration

• Review and process employee timesheets for accuracy and compliance

• Monitor time entries, missed punches, and scheduling exceptions

• Audit overtime, holiday pay, and shift differentials

• Ensure timely supervisor approvals before payroll deadlines

Reconciliation & Issue Resolution

• Investigate and resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies

• Reconcile payroll adjustments and maintain supporting documentation

Leave & Attendance Tracking

• Track employee leave (sick, vacation, FMLA, etc.)

• Verify leave balances and apply appropriate codes

• Update timekeeping systems based on employee status

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Minimum 1–2 years of payroll or timekeeping experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payroll systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks)

• Knowledge of payroll processes including garnishments and taxes

• Experience supporting large employee populations
