Opened in March 2025 in the historic former Westbury Hotel on Madison Avenue, Maxime’s is the home to four distinct kitchens, each offering a unique culinary experience. We are seeking a passionate and motivated Pastry Commis Chef to join our Pastry team and support the preparation of exceptional desserts, pastries and baked goods while maintaining the highest culinary standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of pastries, desserts and baked goods.
• Supports with the daily mise en place production and station preparation.
• Follow recipes, production schedules, and presentation standards with precision.
• Prepare ingredients, doughs, batters, creams, fillings, and garnishes.
• Assist with plating and finishing desserts for service.

• Taste and review products daily to ensure quality and consistency with preparation and presentation.
• Ensures consistency in product quality, flavor, appearance, portioning, and presentation.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of pastry menu items, ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workstations and equipment.
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and Department of Health regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of pastry, bakery, or culinary experience in a fine dining restaurant, luxury hotel, or private club preferred.
• Passion for pastry arts and a desire to learn and develop culinary skills.
• Culinary trained professional.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Stable work experience background.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• NYC Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
