Director of Guest Relations and Experience
The Director of Guest Relations and Experience is a hospitality leader who thrives on creating memorable dining experiences and understands the energy and precision required at the front door of a high-volume restaurant. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the “theater” of hospitality - welcoming guests, setting the tone for service, and ensuring every interaction feels authentic, intentional, and elevated.
Working closely as part of the management team, the Director of Guest Relations and Experience will oversee the flow of service at the door, maintain strong communication between front and back-of-house departments, and uphold the high standards of hospitality that define the Buddakan experience. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while remaining poised, solutions-oriented, and deeply guest-focused.
About Buddakan:
A surreal oasis nestled unassumingly in NYC's vibrant Meatpacking District, adjacent to Chelsea Market. The restaurant combines the serenity of Asia with the flamboyance of 16th-century Paris. Otherworldly art, ornate chandeliers, and a bevy of gilded details kick the senses into overdrive, setting a dramatic precedent for fanciful, shareable pan-Asian fare inspired by multiple traditions. As Buddakan embarks on an exciting collaboration with Chef Danny Bowien — the visionary behind Mission Chinese — the restaurant continues to evolve, bringing bold new flavors and creativity to its already iconic menu.
This position offers a comprehensive package including:
- A Base Salary Range of $85,000- $105,000
- Quarterly Bonus Program up to 10%
- Paid Vacation and Sick Time
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits Coverage
- Dining Discounts at over 25 Affiliated STARR Restaurants
- Professional development opportunities, including the STARR Wine & Beverage Scholarship Program
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of experience as a Maitre d’ or a similar guest-facing leadership role in a high-volume restaurant
- Experience with OpenTable and/or Resy reservation systems preferred
- Proven experience leading and supporting front-of-house teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment, including setting standards for service, communication, and guest experience
- Ability to communicate clearly, think quickly, and remain composed in a dynamic service environment
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at anticipating guest needs
