Engineering Administrative Manager (Civil)

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the team of engineers. Duties include hiring staff, setting project budgets and timelines for completion, and helping staff complete projects on time and within budget. The Engineering Manager can also act as a Senior Project Manager, managing some of the Firms more complex projects and important clients. This position will report to the Senior VP and will have Project Managers reporting to them.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee a variety of engineering project activities and manage/mentor/coach engineering staff. Manage complex projects and important clients of the Firm. An Engineering Manager spends a good deal of their time coordinating the activities of staff.
Duties may include but not be limited to:
- Technical knowledge/expertise of engineering practice areas of the firm
- Delegation, prioritization of engineering project/tasks to team members, technical review of team members works and coordination of delivery of final project to client
- Making determinations for staff and training needs
- Preparation of engineering proposals including project budgets and technical approach.
- Hiring and supervising staff
- Improve workflow processes
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical skills for managing and overseeing projects
- Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
- Organization skills to effectively delegate, track progress and ensure timely completion and delivery of projects on time and on budget
- Detail-oriented to verify that the technical aspects of the projects are correct, and that the clients needs and expectations are met
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering required
- A Masters or MBA is desirable
- Professional Engineer License required
- A minimum of ten years experience managing projects and people
