Purpose of Role
The Center for Allied and Unified Sport and Exercise (CAUSE) at Daemen College provides opportunities for people with disabilities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience the camaraderie and sportsmanship that comes with athletics participation. In addition, CAUSE provides a supported venue for caregivers to access athletic-based care, participate in health and wellness programs, or simply experience the joy of watching a loved one compete. About This Opportunity
Joining our Athletics team, the Program Coordinator - CAUSE will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinates scheduling of athletic facilities and other space for sport sampling sessions in partnership with Daemen Athletics, acting as liaison to the Athletics team.
- Oversees all aspects of all sport sampling sessions for participant benefit, enrichment, and safety.
- Works with the CAUSE Director to monitor service-learning student hours, and manages student workers.
- Monitors participant intake forms and ensures all participants are appropriately enrolled in the program.
- Assists with planning special events and engaging in community outreach, as well as coordinating and attending summer camp session offerings.
- Serves as the primary contact with parents of participants and parents/caregivers in CAUSE programing.
- Responsible for collecting and reporting session data to the CAUSE Director, as well as developing the annual event calendar.
- Participates in the center's leadership team and Advisory Committee.
- Updates the CAUSE website and social media.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in program coordination
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment. Provide guidance to student workers.
- Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid, or ability to achieve these certifications once hired. Annual Blood Borne Pathogen education/training required annually on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or a related field.
- Three years of experience working in program coordination.
- Experience working with people with neurodiverse abilities.
Position Details:
- The coordinator must attend all CAUSE sport sampling sessions. Typical session times are usually Sundays 12 - 5, and Wednesdays and Thursdays 5 - 8 PM, but the schedule can be adjusted for candidate flexibility.
- The role is part time, with 20 - 24 hours per week and a flexible schedule.
