Dishwasher / Porter
Job Summary
The Dishwasher / Porter plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment. This position is responsible for washing dishes and kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant, assisting with basic kitchen prep, and supporting the team with general cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing and storage areas
- Remove trash and recycling and transport it to designated disposal areas
- Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen floors and work areas throughout the shift
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, walls, shelves, storage areas, and other restaurant facilities
- Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, portioning, and organizing ingredients
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
- Restock cleaning supplies and kitchen items as needed
- Assist with maintenance and upkeep of the restaurant
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and Department of Health (DOH) regulations
- Practice safe handling of chemicals, cleaning products, and equipment
- Support kitchen operations with general cleaning and maintenance duties
- Assist with opening, closing, and deep cleaning tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, dishwasher, porter, janitorial, or cleaning experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow directions and safety procedures
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
